ASN

Amanah Saham Nasional or ASN in short, is known to be the first and largest unit trust schemes in Malaysia. It was initially launched back in April 1981 by the country’s third Prime Minister, Yang Amat Berbahagia Tun Dato’ Hussein Onn.

The idea to establish such a unit trust scheme came from Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh bin Tengku Mohd Hamzah. It is a scheme to mobilize savings for equity investment especially for the Bumiputras. In other words, the objective of the scheme is to generate a reasonable level of income distribution as well as capital appreciation to the unit holders through investments.

The ASN is suitable for you if you are seeking for growth of capital over long term investment plan and most importantly is that you must understand the risk and rewards of investment. On top of that, you are only eligible if you are a Malaysian Bumiputra. As mentioned earlier, this scheme is to mobilize the Bumiputras into investment. For eligible and interested candidates, you can either open an Akaun Dewasa (Adult account) if you are 18 years old and above. If you are below 18 years old, you can opt for an Akaun Remaja (Teenage account) provided you have a Bumiputra guardian who are above 18 years old.
