A bank which would be very familiar among most or in fact all Malaysians is Bank Rakyat. This well-known bank is an Islamic bank which provides business and personal banking products and services here in Malaysia. The bank, also known as Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad has announced last year that it will pay out a 15% dividend as its net profit has grew by a staggering 2.7% bringing its profits to RM1.96 billion for the financial year ended December 31, 2014, compared to its profits for the previous year which was about RM1.91 billion.

All of you Malaysians would definitely know about the fall in commodity prices and the ringgit and even despite the unpredictable and challenging environment, Bank Rakyat has nonetheless outperformed itself and proven its capabilities once again. Bank Rakyat has had a total of RM460 million in distribution for the year end for FY14 as to a RM446 million in distribution in FY13.

If you think that Bank Rakyat has been generous over the years with their dividend pay-out, then you are definitely right but wait, it keeps getting better altogether. Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Bhd has also just announced a dividend payment of 15% with an additional bonus 5% special dividends to reward those who have been members for a decade and more now.

Bank Rakyat has already reported its first quarter ended March 31, 2015. There has been said to be in increase of 1.4% in profit before tax and zakat, totalling RM541.83 million for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015, compared to RM534.13 million in the corresponding period of last year. On another note, the net profits of Bank Rakyat rose to RM478.88 million compared MYR 460.14 million in the corresponding period of last year. That is clear an increase of 4.1% and to top it off, return on assets remained strong at 2.6% for the first quarter of 2015.

It has been said that the total amount of dividends to be paid out will come up to about RM320 million, with RM300 million for 787,488 individual members and 1,401 cooperative members however, the remaining dividend totalling RM20 million will be paid out to 179,000 qualified members.
